Test drive and safe meeting
Plan the inspection and test drive so you can calmly verify the car, documents and seller behaviour.
1. Agree the conditions before travelling
Ask for VIN, registration, mileage, service history, accident information and consent for a test drive. Confirm who will attend and where the meeting will take place.
2. Safe place and documents
Meet in daylight at a well-lit location and tell a trusted person. Before driving, check registration, inspection, insurance and the seller’s authority to offer the vehicle.
3. During the test drive
Start with a cold engine, check warning lights, transmission, brakes, steering, suspension, temperature and electronics. Use varied roads without risky manoeuvres and remain within the agreed route.
4. After the drive
Do not decide under pressure. Record symptoms, compare VIN and documents, and arrange an independent inspection before purchase. Any deposit should have clear written refund terms.
